Every Saturday, I go down to Waikiki Walls for bodyboarding. I usually spend about two to four hours in the water, depending on how good the waves are and how I’m feeling that day. It’s something I look forward to each week because it’s fun, challenging, and helps me relax.
Waikiki Walls is a popular spot where the waves break in a way that’s great for bodyboarding. The waves aren’t always huge, but they’re quick and clean, which makes them perfect for long rides. After paddling out past the wall, I wait for the right set to come in and then try to catch the best wave. When I do, it feels amazing to launch forward and ride it all the way in.
I’ve been getting better at reading the waves and knowing where to position myself. I’m also practicing sharper turns and cleaner takeoffs. Some days I fall a lot, but that’s part of learning. The ocean keeps you on your toes, and that’s what makes it exciting.
After every session, I come out of the water feeling tired but really happy. There’s something about being in the ocean for a few hours that resets everything. No matter what kind of week I had, I always feel better after bodyboarding at the Walls.
